Today, November 8th, I am thankful for Sunday dinner.
When Jared and I were engaged lovebirds, we shared with each other how important we believed it to be to have a sit-down dinner meal, at the kitchen table, with every member of the family present each night.
I believe we came to believe in that because of how important it was to our parents as we were growing children at home.
Every evening, Jared and I sit at our table (which was once my family's table) and Morgan's high chair is pulled very near to us.
We pray together. We kiss together (with extra smacking sounds because Morgan thinks it's funny). We eat together. We talk together.
It's important. It keeps us close. And I believe as Morgan grows older, and as our family someday grows in number, it will bless us in more ways than we can know.
And then there's Sunday dinner. Oh, sweet Sunday dinner where we join in the (Mormon) tradition of fixing and eating all of everything homemade. Tried and true recipes adorn my kitchen countertops. I follow them to a 'T'. I use my prettiest table cloth, and my prettiest dishes.
Because my mom did when I was growing up.
Because she still does every sunday.
And Jared's mother too.
I'm thankful for it.
I would LOVE to have some of your home made recipes if you ever feel like sharing!!! I love the tradition, we did the same growing up and I love it! p.s. The picture up top is perfect, it's soooo you!
