Happy weekend, my dears.

For my girls - i.e. my mom, my aunts, my Kricket, my sisters, my mother-in-law, and anyone else I may have forgotton....except for Jared, heaven knows he's not a fan. But who cares?

Happy weekend! Let's go shopping and out for cheesecake after. Or maybe some white wine. I'll have my butler pour. Xo.

November Fourteenth: Silly Morgan

Morgan's been full of it today. He came hobbling down the hallway, bent over, walking slowly and said, "Look! I'm Grandma Glenna!" He's also been telling me he only likes it when I wear my hair down. Pony tails are no good. And last night, when Jar was laying across the couch, Morg declared he was going "up the mountain" and started climbing all over Jared. Then he turned around (while standing on Jared's head), and declared he was "coming down now".

After Danny boy was sound asleep, we (all three) spent the evening squished in Morg's bed, reading Caillou books until I got kicked out for teasing too much. Sometimes I just can't help it. Morg's so fun to egg on, and he says the silliest things I've ever heard. What would I ever do without my nut?

Well, it's Monday, my dears. And it's been blowing like crazy all day. We're having chicken noodle soup for dinner and doughnuts for treats after family home evening. Stay warm. Xo.

My mmm.

Morgan has been so silly lately, saying the funniest things. And can I just mention we’ve been sans passey and sleeping in the 'big boy' bed for over three weeks now? And he’s done it like a champ. No big deal! Whew! Now for potty training.

As for the things that crack us up - I've jotted a few down these last few days. Here goes:

While laying in bed with Jared and I the other day, he was trying hard to procrastinate going to sleep. He kept naming things he 'needed' and he said, ‘I need milk! I need food! I need cake! I need cookies!!!!!!!’

He’s been pretending like he’s a baby by lying down on the table (of all places), with a tiny baby passey, a blankey and a pretend baby bottle.

The other night he had been laying in his bed trying to go to sleep for over an hour. When we went in to check on him, he sat right up in bed and said ‘I wake up! I wake up!’ (as in, 'I already went to sleep, and now I can get up!’ Nice try, buddy!

He also likes to drop his toys on the floor (on purpose) and ask me to pick them up for him by saying ‘I can’t reach it.’

He calls our baby ‘Baby Tummy’.

If Jared and I are in another room, he yells for us from across the house by our names 'Jar' and 'Hollie'.

He's been coming up to me, putting his hands on my face and kissing me on the lips, then saying, ‘Kiss like daddy! Kiss like daddy!’ (If that doesn't melt my heart.)

Calls himself ‘Silly goose!’ whenever he laughs really hard about things.

Touched cousin Levi's ear and said 'cute ear!'

Says 'Me nonny!' (naughty) when he makes messes with his toys.

Told daddy to ‘be patient’ in Sacrament meeting today, after Jared had told him to fold his arms for the prayer.

Favorite things:
Riding his bike outside (he can even pedal now!)
Eating banana bread
Reading books
and playing horsie with daddy

If you have an extra 70 bones lying around (money, that is), I'm thinking you should buy this.
Now available here.

PS - I really can't stop laughing. This sort of thing is right up my husband's ally.

An old favorite.

Speaking of Keith Morrison,
This is for Kim.
And for me, because I needed a good laugh this morning.

PS...

This is the kind of attitude that calls for real spankings......
Oh, just kidding. This picture gives me the giggles. And how could I really spank that?

Black Pepper.

{Camping May 2008}

Dear JLK:

Remember when I came to your place of employment this afternoon to bring to you your cell phone (because you left it at home this morning), and a cranberry-apple juice slush (because I'm such an awesome wife)?

Remember when I saw you, and you smiled, and I started giggling because you had a big piece of black pepper stuck between your teeth!

And remember while I was laughing, you started laughing, because I had one stuck between my teeth too! (Even though we ate separate lunches!)

And remember, while we were laughing really, really hard, you said to me that this was proof that you and I were meant to be!

For one, it felt good to laugh that much. And two, yes, I believe we were. (Meant to be together, that is.)

And lastly, life with you is really, really great. And we're so funny (and awesome). We really are.

Matching peppered teeth and all.

Over and out,
Your BFF,
HRK

Much to his dismay, Morgan was born into the home
of two very big teasers.

And there's nothing he can do about it.
So sad for him.

At 7:06pm Sunday, this is what I found
when I turned around.

Jared came running when I called,
then promptly retrieved my camera for me.

When Jared does the dishes...

...it's a rare occassion AND usually on a Sunday AND usually because I insist. Sometimes, I just can't help it because back at my home in the country, that's how things work. Sunday dishes = husband's job.

Well, Sunday, I insisted.

And Monday morning I took this picture:

Why, yes, that is my 'special-occasion only' vintage, hand-stitched table runner and those are my 'special-occasion only' vintage, hand-stitched linen napkins and those are our dinner dishes propped atop and drying quite nicely.

Lesson learned: when the need arises, vintage linen = make-shift dish towels.

Sigh.

Sigh again.

Husbands are so cute sometimes, aren't they?

My Parents Were Awesome.

*photo from My Parents Were Awesome

Okay, so, do you know Joanna Goddard of Cup of Jo?
:
She's so great. And so is her blog. She finds the greatest, most pretty websites this world wide web has to offer and she features them on her blog - websites that we might otherwise have missed out on if it weren't for her.
:
I'm so glad we didn't miss out on this one. So, so, so glad.
:
It's called My Parents Were Awesome and it's a website where the public can upload sweet photos of their parents and grandparents.
:
Last night, after our little one was sound asleep, we sat two on our broken little office chair to scroll through the 'parent picture' archives.
:
We feel that the picture of the lovely couple shown above is the grand-prize winner.
:
I mean look at that face of his. Look at that 'stouche. And a shirt to match. Does it get any better?
:
It felt so good to laugh that much. And real laughter, too. Sweet tears came rolling down our jolly faces. We had us a grand time. Some much-needed 'winter-blues' therapy (for me, at least).

{PS}
Wouldn't it be awesome if that guy was really your dad?

i've been laughing about this all week....

late one night this week, while preparing morgan's midnight snack (a warm, four-ounce bottle), jared, in a sleeping trance, popped a spoonful of delicious enfamil formula in his mouth, mistaking it for a powdered doughnut.

formula.

dry, powdered enfamil formula.

with the plastic spoon.

and he just popped it all in his mouth.

he said he didn't even realize what he had done until he got back into bed. he just thought Hostess had dropped the ball and made a bad batch of doughnuts. (i know, seriously?)

he said he gagged all the next day whenever he recalled the midnight event.

as for me, i burst out in random laughter all the week long whenever i recalled it.

my husband's so rad.

muppies.

Camping.May.2008
{p.s. my.hair.is.awesome}

last night, in my last effort to get mr. keller to tuck me into bed, he told me he needed to run out and put bella in her kennel before we could shut the lights out for the evening.

bella has dug five different holes IN OUR GRASS in the last week, one big enough she can lay her entire dog self in. we believe this irratical behavior means we will here shortly have to find her a good looking stud of a boyfriend. Translation: she's going into heat.

the clock was pushing twelve a.m., and i complained and told jared she would be fine for the night. i wanted to go to bed. my eyes were so sleepy.

he insisted and told me he didn't want some strange dog jumping the fence for some midnight love. he said he didn't want mutts for puppies.

then he said he didn't want muppies.

mutts + puppies = muppies.

of course! muppies. ingeneous. hilarious. in our late night hysteria, we fell simply fell apart.

delirium + stupid humor = the hysterics.
and boy, did we feel it.

as we collapsed into bed, i fell asleep feeling thankful i had someone to laugh with, someone who shares the same sort of ridiculous sense of humor - especially at twelve in the a.m.

a visit from TK

well folks, if you were sincerely worried about the state of sickness my husband was in over the weekend, worry no more. after a few intense days of doing nothing but eating junk food, watching TruTv and comedy central, and {nearly} ruining our exciting plans for our rare three-day weekend, i am thankful to announce that he is feeling much better.

last night at approximately 6:32pm, he came into our bedroom where Morgan and I were laying on the bed. he came in with speckles of white shaving cream all over his face, AND A FREAKING HANDLEBAR MUSTACHE!

now, friends, my husband is a man. he can grow a five o'clock shadow by 11:00am. and i'm serious. so, being that his razor had had nearly a four-day vacation, you can imagine the damage! what's that? you say you can't imagine it?

okay - here - let me show you.

{i do have other pictures, but i feel i would be compromising my integrity too much, as i swore on my life and the life of my blog that they would never ever see front and center blog time.}

he tried hard to keep a straight face, but we were a mess the rest of the night. especially when he put on his flannel pajama pants and camo hat and called me his "little lady". then he started playing "i should have been a cowboy" by TK and we sang it at the top of our lungs until we couldn't anymore. and he pretended to be TK all night long until I said, "okay, well then I guess you love--love George W."
.
.
his reply: oh hell no. (i knew that would get him).
and then, like that, it was over. well, at least the singing and the TK thing. but he wore the hat and pants the rest of the night and kept the 'stache until this morning. and he woke all healed and unsick.
.
.
so, yes, in case there were any questions, health, in all her glory, has surely revisited us once more. and if the sickies ever visit your husband and he gets the junk-foodies and the lazies right along with the sickies - give the old handlebar mustache trick a try. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

PS
did anyone see me trip over my OWN feet in the backyard and fall flat into Bella's nasty-arse you-know-what?

if not, it was awesome.
