Tuesday thoughts

It is Tuesday, my dears and strangely enough, I actually feel rested today, thanks to my wondrous soulmate who has let me sleep in five days in a row now. There isn't much I like better than sleep these days. And I know that I'm loved when Mr. Keller slips out at the first sound of waking children and shuts the door behind him.

Yesterday I went shirt shopping at the Goodwill and found four springy shirts for eight bucks. Not bad, but I may be starting to dress on the grandma-ish side of fashion. I'm twenty-six. Is that okay?

Sugar is ten months old today, that little fart. I think I'll find ten rolls on his fat little bottom and pinch-pinch-pinch them until he squeals. Gosh, I love that boy.

Grandma's funeral is on Monday and I'll have the honor of speaking at the service. I picked some grape hyacinths from my neighbor's yard and set out a few of her things that I have had tucked away for a while. I'm trying to remember everything so I can start writing it all down. Remembering things I haven't for a while makes me happy, then sad, then happy and sad. Then happy/sad. You know?

"Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus."

I love Emerson. Also, I wish I was still a girl.

Below:
Mr. Keller in pink and stripes? It was a handsome day.

My new/old shirts. Coral Polkadots, I know!

For grandma

Happy ten months, you jolly little boy.

Rosy cheeks and everything.

"Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

Gordon B Hinckley

At 11:30 last night, I sank myself into a hot bath while the house was quiet and the boys were sleeping. I laid there in the dark, breathed in deep and let the week go. Because it wasn't that great, and full of things that have made me sad and heart heavy. This morning I came across this quote, which has seemed to be just what I needed to hear. Pair that along with toothless grins and things fastly become rosy.

Children are such a gift from God.

And I think a weekend is just what we need.

Wherever you are, be there fully.

For where you are is where you can most effectively act and l i v e.

When your thoughts are in another place or time, your actions lose much of their effectiveness.

There is much to be accomplished, much to be lived in every place and in every moment.

Be there fully for all of them, and life will be rich indeed.

"We must not think Pride is something God forbids because He is offended at it, or that Humility is something He demands as due to His own dignity — as if God Himself was proud. He is not in the least worried about His dignity. The point is, He wants you to know Him: wants to give you Himself. And He and you are two things of such a kind that if you really get into any kind of touch with Him you will, in fact, be humble — delightedly humble, feeling the infinite relief of having for once got rid of all the silly nonsense about your own dignity which has made you restless and unhappy all your life."

~C.S. Lewis

Sunday Inspiration

Since I am home today (and not at church), tending to my stuffy nosed husband & child, here's this to inspire us both, you and I.

--------

"The gift of the Holy Ghost... quickens all the intellectual faculties, increases, enlarges, expands, and purifies all the natural passions and affections, and adapts them, by the gift of wisdom, to their lawful use. It inspires, develops, cultivates, and matures all the fine-toned sympathies, joys, tastes, kindred feelings, and affections of our nature. It inspires virtue, kindness, goodness, tenderness, gentleness, and charity. It develops beauty of person, form, and features. It tends to health, vigor, animation, and social feeling. It invigorates all the faculties of the physical and intellectual man. It strengthens and gives tone to the nerves.

In short, it is, as it were, marrow to the bone, joy to the heart, light to the eyes, music to the ears, and life to the whole being."

--------------

Aren't we so very blessed to have such an influence in our lives? And aren't we blessed to know that we belong to a loving Heavenly Father? How mindeful He is of our needs! How I know He leads and guides us. And although we can't see Him, I know He is actively present in our lives, in my life. And He has a plan. Amidst this crazy, confused world of ours, He has a plan.

And it's perfect. And with the help of the spirit, we can learn to trust in that plan. And if we do, all will be well.

All is well here.
And my heart is full.

Have a peaceful afternoon,

{Hollie Rae}
