December comings and goings...

I blinked and december was gone.

We ate. (A lot.) Hugged old friends, went on a few dates, celebrated six years of marital bliss (or something pretty close to bliss), spanked and pinched the chubbiest bottom belonging to the happiest six month-old boy that ever lived, wrapped presents, hung white lights, took over 1,000 pictures, sorted through five hundred receipts, cooked, watched old movies, had a few good cries, snuggled, went roller skating, made fun of people, sang, laughed, smooched a bunch, and toasted to the year behind us and the brand new one before us.

It's been good. Don't you agree?

Goodbye december!
Goodbye!

Oh blessed friday.

Friday has come at last and I do believe there is a decent nap right around the corner.
And a family reunion.
And a date night.
And all the delicious croutons I can eat at Ruby Tuesdays,
because Mr. knows they are my favorite.
He knows all my favorites because he loves me. And that's his job.

Other favorites include:
Watching DVR-ed reruns of Jackass (yes, I'm 26 years old), weekend dinner on the porch and seeing my best bud dressed up for church. Gets me every time.

Happy weekend, my dears.

Have some adventure.

Day sixteen.

Well, my darlings, we're sixteen days into this adventure, and holy cow, it all seems like a dream. Probably because I so badly wish I was fast asleep dreaming, but instead, we're sleep-deprived and dizzy. Such is the life!

Friday, we three broke away. We finally broke away! I got brave enough (and hungry enough) to drive to Wendy's with two kids, by myself, with no help. And it went so well that we went to the bank, too. And to get the first shaved ice of the season! Tiger's Blood, baby. God bless us! It feels good to be alive.

It's hot as blazes here, and we're feeling like we're dying in this here house of ours. I just may make Jared buy us an air conditioner here soon. Because, seriously.

Morg's latest favorite is sliding down his Fisher Price slide into his little pool bare naked. I even noticed last night that his little bum cheeks were sunburned! The kid won't keep his swimsuit on! I'm sure one of these times I'll catch it in a few photos, but for now, we can't stop laughing about it. Everytime he goes down and splashes in the water, he screams and says 'gosh dang it!', then hurries and does it all over again. He also has nightly daddy-son dates to the park down the road where he's learned to go down the big slide all by himself and he's even braved the big-boy swing by himself, too. He's always so nervous to leave Danny, though, and makes sure to kiss Danny's little head as soon as he comes home. It's amazing to me how sweetly and instinctively he's become a big brother whose at his baby's side whenever he's crying. He softly says, 'Hey, hey.' to Danny, to comfort him, just like daddy does, and rubs his toes and hands to soothe him. I've even found him singing parts of his favorite lullabyes to him a few times.

Danny's been eating and sleeping and crazy enough, smiling! He's been smiling since he was just one day old (even ask my mom!) and we can hardly believe it. He eats and smiles and sleeps and smiles and cries and smiles. And it's just about the sweetest thing.

I swear his little face changes more each day. He still has long monkey arms and daddy long-leg fingers and has the funniest scowl! He also has the cutest eyebrows that he raises high up whenever he nurses, just like Morgan used to. It has made me so lonesome for my tiny baby Morgan, whose now so big I can hardly stand it. I keep pinching myself, trying to really believe that Morgan's over 2 1/2 years old, and that in 2 1/2 more years, he'll be five and kindergarten will be just around the corner. I think I may die when that day comes! (Heaven help mothers when their babies grow up!)

In the mean time, I'm trying to bathe in this sweet new sun and take it all in. Life is so good - exhaustive, emotional, and sleepy, but so so good.

PS - I'm 'goaling' it this week to blog more, because, you know, this here thing is my journal, and heaven knows if I don't write it here, it will probably never get written. And years down the road, I'll be missing these days and I will have forgotten all the small, wondrous things I always close my eyes and tell myself to hold onto, and to remember. Here's to next week!

Xo.

Being 'mischievous' and other business.

This week, Morg has decided he is the big-boy type. If ever I can't locate him at any point in the day, he's in the bathroom with the sink on. 'Wash hands', he says. Then he starts giggling because he knows he's semi 'in trouble' for sneaking.

He's also decided that there really must be a baby in my stomach. He brings his blanket to wrap around my tummy and tries to put his passey up to my belly button. We are all a little anxious.

Of course, we'll have to wait a little longer.

This is another new trick, too.  Jared called for me from the kitchen and told me to bring the camera. Super funny. And super not safe. But still. Such is the life of boy, I'm learning.

Thirty weeks: I never thought you'd come.
PS - Like my stretchy legging 'jeggings'? I feel so stuck in the '90s. It took being pregnant for me to even contemplate buying them. But since I have, let me tell you, my life has changed. They feel like heaven.

---------------------

We also cleaned out clothes too small now for Morg, which I must admit, made me a little teary. (It does every time!) It's exciting (and strange) to think that soon we'll be making room for sweet little things right alongside Morgan's clothes. Oh, the mixed emotions!

Morg's also picked up on emotion a lot lately. The other day I was typing on the computer, looking rather 'serious', I guess, and he came to me and said 'mommy is sad.' I told him 'No, mommy is happy!!!' Then he repeated that about a million times. But he keeps saying 'Daddy is sad.' or 'Daddy is happy' or 'Morgan is happy', and so on.

He's also really into singing songs. His favorites are Popcorn Popping, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and I am a Child of God. And we have to sing them in that order, or else. (You know?) I'm hoping to catch him 'helping' me sing on camera one of these days. It's just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen.

Otherwise, this week flew by in a flash. Looking forward to slowing down a bit over the next few days, Dateline tonight, snuggling with my eternal boyfriend, and maybe a Farr's ice cream cone. Or two.

Have yourself a happy weekend.

Xo.

Updated.

{looking for squirrels}

Yesterday, we took Belly dog to Idaho Falls for a weekend rendezvous with her new boyfriend. Hopefully she will come back with little yellow babies in her tummy. If she does, we will be delivering at about the same time, come June.

Mr. Keller commented that it was too bad I wasn't going for a home birth. He could coach us both at the same time. Maybe next time around.

(On real delivery: I'm getting butterflies!)

Today, I think it's spring. The windows are open and I'm ecstatic to announce I've spotted tiny green leaves sprouting from the vines on my honeysuckle in the backyard. I think I've taken about one thousand and one deep breaths today, whispering 'thank you'. It's sunny, and (almost) April. And (I think) we've made it through.

It feels that way.

This weekend, I'm looking forward to:
A date overnighter, general conference, pie and ice cream at Perkins, my mom (and dad!) coming to visit, and finding some maternity sweat pants. (These elastic, pre-pregnancy pants are sure to be the death of me, if they aren't replaced soon!)

Over and out,
hrk.

PS - Guess who said 'come out baby' when we were taking a bubble bath together the other day?! It was pretty close to being the cutest thing I've heard in a while.
