Last week Mr. Keller and I dropped the boys at grandma and papa's in Smithfield and went to Salt Lake for the evening to go to a concert. My beloved Chris Carrabba started a new band last year. Twin Forks - they opened for Augustana. Mr. Keller stood in line in the rain for a good thirty minutes while I waited beneath a covered building....until I decided the crowd was small enough, a place in line didn't even matter that much. Poor guy. He was soaked! And on top of that, I made him drive back to the hotel to get socks and boots for me because my feet were so numb. It was so cold and rainy that night! But so worth it! I could have died when we walked through the doors. They were already playing and we were so close to them! I've loved him so long -- since Further Seems Forever, 2000-ish, when I was just fifteen. That's so long. So many memories. And such a fabulous new cd. After they were done singing, they came down to their merch table and I had hearts in my eyes just watching them. I bought a vinyl copy and they all signed it and like a fangirl, I had to have my picture taken with them. I just could have died that night.
The next morning, we drove around salt lake and I fell in love with every single old building I laid eyes on. We drove around and around (and around!) temple square, trying to find a place to park. Finally, we did. It was still cool and rainy, but we had such a good time walking around, looking at the gorgeous flowers and commenting over and over again how impeccable the temple grounds are. So incredibly perfect. We went to the Joseph Smith Memorial building, which I hadn't been in for years. I couldn't believe how gorgeous and historical that building is. Hotel Utah, who knew? We took a tour and I was in absolute heaven. I told Mr. Keller I wanted him to bring me back there during Christmas so we could dress up really nice and walk around and pretend it's 1913, when the building was brand new. It's like stepping back in time there. I had such a good time.
Chris Carrabba, you guys. I can't believe I kept it together.
