Eyes full of sky.

Dear Morgan,
Today I didn't get dressed. We took an afternoon nap and before I knew it we were on the back porch this evening, me laying back in my chair, and you, in your cute birthday suit. We were playing airplane. And you were laughing. And I was laughing, and I was counting my pretty, sweet blessings. (I have many.)

You were the first I counted. And the brightest of them all.

Your face is the purest I've ever seen. And as I held you high above me, your eyes matched the sky.

The thought that we grew you from our own selves takes my breath away. And deep inside my heart is this love that is boundless. And entirely for you.

Love, for always,
Mommy

PS - In case you should forget, I'll remember our evening like this:

Dear Morgan

Dear Morgan,
Tonight, I stopped breathing in TJ Maxx as I was trying to pick out 2T clothes for you for this winter. I was holding my breath, trying not to cry. (I did anyway.) I was trying to remember all of the little milestones you've made and all of the funny things you've done and every ounce of sweetness you've brought into our home since you became ours twenty-two months ago. I hope I never forgot how sweet your little voice sounds when you say my name, or how you kneel when we say our prayers, or how your face looks like sunshine whenever you take sight of your daddy. Please stay little and sweet and snuggly forever. I love you so much more than you'll ever, ever know.

Love,
Mommy

(PS --- more pictures of our camping adventures to come.)

Dear Morgan:

{July 4th, 2009}

Dear Morgan:

Saturday with you was sweet. You played in the backyard for hours, wearing nothing but a pair of old socks and a diaper (both of which were thrown away before we went in for the day). You kept dipping your pointer finger in mud puddles and licking away the mud. I would say 'ick' and you would laugh your head off.

You sat on Bella like a horse and patted her belly, (large and pregnant), until she rolled over and licked your face a million times. (Because she loves you so, and because you're her pup, too).

You giggled, patted her nose, then you ran away. You took my empty flower buckets and filled them with rocks and then found a stick that you carried around for the whole afternoon.

I love to watch you. You are so mine. With matching skin, and a love for barefootedness, you and I are quite the pair.

And we love the sun. And the clouds and the wind. Dirt stained hands, and water.

Then we shared a warm tub and potato chips, and I held you in the rocking chair until you slept in my arms.

And our day was completely perfect.

You are completely perfect.

I just wanted you to know.

Love,
Mommy.

A Letter For Mr. Dixon

Dear Dad,

I must thank you for lending your wife to me all weekend long - especially yesterday, since you willingly celebrated thirty years of marriage side by side with your son, instead of your lovely wife, while she was here doing my dishes for me and taking my wriggly son during sunday school and relief society (should I emphasize the word relief?) all to repair my wellbeing.
-

She is the best mom. And you are the best dad. And you are both such a strong example of dedication and love in marriage (eternal marriage). Thank you for that. You are all that is kind and steady, and those are the perfect characteristics to find in a father, and a husband, too.

-
I miss you and wish you were here, and will be sending a box of toffee popcorn home with mom all for you. (And no, you don't have to share.)
-

I love you dad.
Happy Thirtieth Anniversary!
(Yesterday.)
-
-
Love, your eldest.

A Simple Request:

Today, I've been longing for pretty green grass, and summer, and sun. This picture makes me long all the more.
-
Sweet summer sun: come back to me. Please, oh please, oh please. If you don't quicken your pace, I think I will die. Literally. Or go crazy in my mind. Or, probably both (just reversed).
-
Seriously, please return. I can't go on much longer without you.

A heart full of joy.

Dear F e b r u a r y,

What a joyous day this is. January is behind us and we have made it out alive. (Barely.) Each and every year, I am so grateful for you - a slight glimmer of hope - a 'countdown' sort of month. Spring will come to us again soon. Thanks for being such a perfect reminder. I love you so.
-
Yours truly,
Hollie Rae
PS: Also, because of you, I get to look forward to:
cut-out hearts.
homemade valentines.
chocolate cake.
red lipstick.
red feathered wreaths.
extra kisses.
flowers.
a tanning package.
and an excuse for being extra sappy
and sentimental.
oh february, you are so lovely to me.
