Chick.

I pulled these out of my linen closet to stage some Vintage Farm things this morning. I got them for my birthday a few years ago from Grandma Buttars, Jared's grandma. I love them so much! I would love to use them, but I know they'd be stained in like two seconds. So, they'll stay tucked away for now! But seriously, I love their charm.

Happy Love Month!

My sweets,
We made it through the long and dreary month of January; the worst month of the year (my opinion!). What a reason to celebrate!

Here's to things that are sweet, yummy and red! And here's to being able to breathe a little better. March is in sight!

Xoxo,
hrk.

Isn't this 'apple cozy' just darling? I think they would make great visiting teaching gifts for autumn.

You can buy the pattern here at this etsy shop!

{Baby Mine}

This is the sweetest, most peaceful of lullaby cds. It had me in tears the first few seconds of listening to it. The vocals are soothing and quiet. And the lyrics to the songs are so tender. We find ourselves listening to it all throughout the day (not just at naptime and bedtime).
-
I think it's available at Deseret Book, since it is put out by one of their affiliate companies, but we purchased ours at Walmart.
-
Truly a sweet compilation. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Beauty.

{My Grandma Anna Seamons Dixon, 1938}

Do you want to know the cutest, most romantic thing I've heard all week?

Last night, I snuggled up next to my ninety-two year-old grandma for a picture. It's always a treat to see her; to hug her and kiss her soft face. She's so fluffy and little. And let me tell you, the toll ninety-two years can have on a woman's body!

Her hair is entirely white, her hands shake, her voice is quiet, and the limbs of her body knob and curve - she can no longer walk unaided.

But in light of it all, right before the picture was taken, she tilted her head towards me and said, "I hope my hair looks alright."

If that isn't the cutest!

There is still a girl within her, at heart. And the idea of it, the idea of romance, is ever-changing. Like the body, it ages and dims. But I know it never really leaves us. Not ever.

It tarries with us here and hereafter. It's so much a part of who we are.

I'm thankful for that. I find it feminine and charming.

I find it reflective of eternity. Of true love.

The very thought of it warms me.

She also has this little bump of a baby in her belly.

Just another something of Breah's I also love.

Old October

{photo courtesy of Country Living}

I just posted this picture on my 'vintage farm' blog, but I have been looking forward to posting it here too. I am a firm believer in the inspiration that comes from Country Living. Silly, maybe. But, truth be told, that magazine is exquisite. I look forward to reading it every month.

I remember when they published this picture in one of their October issues a few years back. My heart fell in love. I haven't had the time in the past years to tackle actually gilding my own pumpkins, but I just may try it this year, since I'm home with my little darling and will probably have the opportunity.

Have you gilded pumpkins before? Any tips?

Have I told you that I {heart} October? So charming and quaint - the month where we nestle ourselves inside our homes and snuggle each other 'til spring.

Oh, how I'm looking forward to that.

All things on earth point home in old October; sailors to sea, travellers to walls and fences, hunters to field and hollow and the long voice of the hounds,
the lover to the love he has forsaken.
