This last weekend was so perfect. It was just what we needed. It was so warm and sunny and the boys are at such a perfect, worry-free age for me. I told Mr. Keller I have a new respect for my mother and aunts who, at least twice a month each summer, would pack us all up and take us camping for days on end. So much work! I remember us always giving my mom such a hard time, asking her when we were going to leave, and why she was taking so long to pack! Now I know!!!! So much work! And the boys were about to drive us crazy the day we left! And then when we left, it was, 'When are we going to be there?!!' every ten seconds.
Danny boy slept with Mr. Keller and I in the tent and Morg slept in my parents' new trailer. Danny did so well and had such a fun time in the tent. He is such a snuggle bug. Morgan spent hours riding his bike around, and Danny pulled the wagon behind. We fished, took lots of walks down the lane, saw some sweet little deer, watched the 4th of July parade, swam in the river, ate yummy food, visited, sang around the campfire, laughed, took a ridiculous amount of pictures, went to the hot springs, and Mr. Keller and I floated down the river a few times. It was so much fun! We wished we would've done it a few more times. The river was perfect! The second time we went, Uncle Dave's raft popped right before we went around the bend and under the bridge (the swiftest part of the whole thing). He had Raegen in the raft with him. He tossed me his oars as he started sinking, which meant I didn't have any free hands to steer my tube like I should have, plus I was so worried watching them sink into the river! And then I hit both bridge pillars and a huge raft of like ten people hit my little tube, and then I tried to get to the side, but couldn't reach the bottom of the river. And I pretty much almost drowned. But I didn't. Kenzie swam across the river to save me and all was well. Good times.
We had a smaller crowd than we usually do, but we still had so much fun. It was so nostalgic for me, watching our kids play together, doing the exact same things we did when we were little. When we were swimming, Terrie turned to me and said, 'We're making memories right now.' We certainly were. I hope we can go again soon.
Our group included Breah and Eric and their two little girls, Terrie and Dave, Jackie and Kenz, my parents, us and Grandma Glenna, who, as usual, provided all the entertainment we could ask for. On the drive up, Mr. Keller and I made a bet on how many times she would mention the 'Senior Center'. My bet was up to 11 times, and Mr. Keller's bet was for over 15 times. I totally lost the bet, and we lost count. Hahaha! This still cracks me up. Every time she would say 'Senior Center', I was dying. Plus, Mr. Keller kept asking her questions to encourage her. Bless her heart.
Here are some photos from our weekend.
