Mister Morgan was so excited last week to bring home the VIP
folder from preschool. “I’m the VIP next week!” he exclaimed. We filled out a
special form with special questions about all his favorites and sent some of
his favorite pictures (of himself) for display. His preschool teachers are
golden. They have the best crafts and are so creative. He’s a bit unsure of all
the social part of it. He doesn’t like when the kids get too noisy. But he
loves learning. They’ve been learning all about “dinosorns” and he’s learning a
great song called “Big and Powerful” about dinosaurs. He knows all the big
names of all the types and he made a cool dinosaur exhibit with sand, rocks,
twigs, paint a Christmas tree clipping and a dinosaur figurine all glued in a
shoebox.
He continues to be our sweetheart boy. Unless he’s starving,
or overly tired, he is always surprising us with his sweet sweet soul. Whenever
he does get upset, he says funny things like: you’re not my mom and dad
anymore! You’re not special to me! Then he runs away. He said that the other
morning to Mr. Keller. And then later on that night, when he was paying bills,
Morgan came up behind him and hugged him tight. He said: thank you so much for
teaching me. You teach me so much.
Mr. Keller said, “Well, this morning you said I wasn’t
special to you.”
Morgan: Well, I thought about that and I’m really so sorry I
said that. You are very special to me. You are the best dad in the whole world.
You teach me so much.
The child is an old soul. This morning, in the middle of
tent-fort building, he said, “I’m so glad I have a mom and a dad that take care
of me and give food to me.”
The highlight for him last weekend was doing lots of extra
chores and earning three dollars to help buy pizza for dinner. Obviously, we
made up the difference, but the boy loves pizza. A lot. He was so happy when I
brought his favorite home: pepperoni.
He continues to love Star Wars, and because he loves it so,
so does his brother. They are loving their Jedi robes that grandma Lorrie made.
And their favorite toys continue to be the light sabers that Kricket gave them
in September. Those toys have my mark approval! They’ve been well-loved and
still work like they’re brand new.
Here’s some funny (and sweet) things Morg has said lately….
“Danny stole my toy and now my heart is broken!”
One day, Danny was particularly trying (stealing toys and
messing Morg’s room up ON PURPOSE!). I caught Morgan leaning his head against
my full-length mirror and looking at himself and saying, “What does Danny have
to be so naughty!”
We were reading scriptures one night and when I asked what
song we should sing before prayer, Morg said, “Choose The Right, except it’s Choose
The Wrong for Danny!”
I was on the computer the other day, and Morg and Danny were
in the office playing next to me and Morg turned to me and said, “Let’s pretend
the office is China. Can you give me some food? – Like pretend food, like
chicken!” (his favorite is Panda Express lately).
I brought Morg home a treat from the grocery store yesterday
and some Angry Birds Star Wars playing cards. I left again to run more errands
after that, and Mr. Keller said while I was gone, Morgan asked him for some
money. And when Mr. Keller asked him why, he said, “ I want to go shopping to
buy mom a present since she always buys me things. Like a necklace or earrings.”
On Christmas morning, in the middle of opening presents, he stopped and told me
he really wanted to buy Santa a present, too, since he brought so many things
for him.
Lately, he’s been referring to me as the queen. Jared, of
course, eggs this on and we’ve decided the house is my castle, and my lounge
chair by the kitchen is my throne. The boys are the princes and Mr. Keller is
the servant (of course he made that up himself). Whenever Jared tries to discipline,
Morg usually yells, “You’re not the boss! Mom is the boss of everything in this
house!” And whenever he’s mad at Mr. Keller he refers to him as Jared! Haha!!!
This one cracks me up so bad! He also said to Jared the other day, “Don’t you
say that to a little boy like me!”
He asked Mr. Keller the other day, “Do you have any
girlfriends?”
He also said to Mr. Keller, “I still love ya, I’m just mad
at ya.”
He asked me the other day, “Do you miss me when I was a
baby?”. The answer to that one is yes. I do. Terribly.
Morg has gotten to where he so looks forward to Danny’s
naptime. He calls it his “special time” and he gets to play with whatever toys
he wants all by himself. He gets a treat and I put on a movie and go and take a
nap myself, and he plays with himself for at least an hour, sometimes two. He’s
so good! I know I’m so spoiled with this child. He’s always entertained himself
so well. And he really loves his alone time. It’s so funny! And so Morgan.
Last week, he told me: I’m the luckiest boy I never (ever)
seen! (Though, I can’t remember why he said that.)
At least three or four times a week, he will come up to me
out the blue (usually when I’m cleaning the house or doing the dishes), and he
squeezes my legs and says, “I love ya, mom. You’re the best mudder ever.” I’m
really not kidding. He says that. And I just melt.
He always asks for extra kisses at night when we tuck him
in, and my favorite is when we sing primary songs in the dark before bed. He is
so infinitely sweet. I love him so much.
