^^^my favorite part of the week, getting caught in the rain.
-----------------------------------------
The week came and went. We ate watermelon, chilled cucumber and cheddar sandwiches and Cafe Rio (twice). We celebrated being free in this beautiful nation of ours. I was disappointed when we didn't sing The Star Spangled Banner last week in church. It was in my head (and heart) all week. What a powerful hymn.
We lit off fireworks with the neighbors and stayed up past midnight waiting for the wind to die down for the big firework show across town. We watched it from our driveway and missed our old house where we saw the show perfectly each year beneath our big maple trees in the front yard. The view isn't quite as good here. Fire in the sky is still pretty though, wherever you're looking up from.
We drove to Star Valley on Wednesday and stayed at the cabin for a night. The boys were in heaven and I only almost had a heart attack once (as opposed to the several I had imagined) when Danny almost fell off the eight foot deck. (The anxiety that thing causes a mother.) I'm still not sure how two generations have survived with no security for the adventurous type of miniature humans.
Every week since the beginning of June, a thunderstorm (or two) has come rolling in with the sweetest rainfall after. I miss those Boise storms something fierce, so I've been loving the ones that have shown up here lately. When we were loading the boys up to drive home from Wyoming, a raindrop fell and was proceeded by buckets upon buckets a split second later. Mr. Keller and I were soaked from head to toe by the time we climbed inside the truck. I couldn't stop laughing. I wanted him to pull over and let me out so I could run around in it some more. Apparently, on such occasions, I prove to be just a girl still. No reservations here. In fact, two weekends ago, after the boys were in bed, I went outside to play in the rain all by myself. I tried convincing Mr. Keller to join me, but he sat on the porch instead. He's always crashing my party. (He's also my anchor.)
Anyway, July is here.
I'm already missing June.
Here's some photos from our week...........
Driving
The Shire, I think.
My view
"Who will wake up early with me and make me breakfast?"
Grandma will.
Red, white and blue. And a gorgeous green valley.
Hiking, playing with rocks, finding sticks, in heaven.
Shenanigans.
Here we are hiking. I was coaxed into going because I was told it was a mile long on a flat trail, which turned out to be very fabricated. Mr. Keller took me to where he shot his elk last fall. He was very romantic about it, as if a scattered elk bones could be romantic. It was a happy place for him and he was so cute. He even found his broken kill-shot arrow, which he very ceremoniously wrapped up and put in his pack to take home. It's in our office now. Happy story.
Morg at Morg's.
Two old farts.
In the trees.
My whole life, these three.
On the loose.
Wheelies.
Two minutes after leaving the cabin
Sparklers.
Costco shopping.
Costco loot (ahhhh!!!!)
Favorite weekend find - $4.00 lamp from the Goodwill
And a Sugarbear smile.
The end!
