November Twenty-third: Health and natural medicine

Let's talk about natural medicine, shall we?

I talk about Vickie Sorensen like she's mine. I even call her 'my Vickie' sometimes, and seem to find reason to bring her up to each one of my friends and all my family. The truth is, I love the woman and am thankful to have found her.

Vickie is a master herbalist, a kineseologist, and a midwife, (she owns her own birthing center and has delivered over 1,000 babies!). She also has an entire line of herbal products that I highly recommend. Here are a few I'm never without:

Propolis Plus is a natural antibiotic. The first time I used this product was when Morgan had the rotavirus when he was one. You would think I would be exaggerating when I tell you that as soon as I gave him the first dose of Proplis, he stopped vomiting (after doing so for over an entire week), but I'm not. I have kept it close at hand for just about everything else, and it works wonders to chase away any sign of cold, throat issues or the flu.

She also has a great line of products for digestive issues, yeast issues, and a great line of essential oils.
I also feel as though I have her to thank for giving me the confidence and courage to try for a vaginal delivery with Danny, after Morgan's c-section. I went and visited with her right before we got pregnant, and also a few weeks before giving birth, and both of our visits were very healing for me, and were an answer to hundreds of my pleading prayers. She gave me a long list of physical preparations ranging from exercises, to taking certain vitamins and herbs, and I know Danny's birth was the miracle it was because I followed through with all the things she counseled me to do.

I will say, too, that she doesn't 'claim' to heal you herself. Most of her ideas and plans for your health include a lot of hard work and personal resolve to eat better and exercise more. Not to mention, rebuilding your body with certain things it's been depleted of takes time. But the fact is it's possible and within reach. I believe it because I've seen it!

I have this passion and testimony of natural medicine. And while I also have modern medicine to thank for so many things, I believe God has given us so much of what we need to heal ourselves naturally. I believe it! I believe in striving to be wise and informed, and I believe in making independent decisions regarding your health.

Now before this turns into too much of a rant (because I sooo can get that way sometimes), I should say my husband might suggest including some sort of feminist, anti-government, anti-medicine joke here. Such as, 'lets go burn some bras!', or me advertising to you how, in addition to our closet full of wild herbs, we also like to smoke illicit things in the backyard while we're wearing things bright colored or tie-dyed. (Not true, by the way.) Even still, jokes aside, I have to make it known that I'm thankful for homeopathy. Natural medicine, baby! And three cheers for Vickie. It's so where I'm at, folks. And I just wanted to share.
