Boise!

The boys and I made a trip to Boise last week. The boys were so excited to go, they could hardly stand it. This was the first time that they both really identified we were 'going on vacation' and they packed their bags and were so anxious the night before we left. When they woke up the next morning, they were all giggles saying, "We're going to grandma's today!!!". It was so cute! I, of course, took all day to get my to-do list done. Why I saved groceries, laundry, vintage farm and packing for that day, I have no idea. We were going to leave in the morning, and then we were going to leave at 1:30, and then 3:30, and we really left at 5pm. They drove great, slept an hour or so. I decided to take Black's Creek since it was dusk and I was hoping to catch the sprinklers in the fields. And the mint. I found it. I was in heaven. I felt like my mother, who used to drive us by her old houses in Twin. I miss Kuna so badly it hurts in my heart sometimes. Oh, how I miss it.

The next, we rested up and played around grandma's. The boys played for hours in the sandbox and on the swingset. Their slide is much bigger and they had fun racing down it. That night, papa watched the boys and mom and I snuck into town for a bit with Kenzie. We went to Toys R Us on a birthday errand for Sugar, two Ross stores, Barns and Noble and TCBY. Waffle Cone Wednesday, fools. Why, oh why don't we have TCBY in our town anymore?!

The next day, we packed a picnic and went to the zoo. We ate at Julia Davis. The river smelled so yummy and there were baby ducklings everywhere. The boys weren't as impressed with the zoo as I thought. They loved the merry-go-round and the big lion slide. And the butterfly exhibit, of course. That was the sweetest little exhibit. There were tons of different kinds! We were instructed not to touch them, even if they landed on our clothes (which they did). There were great big blue ones which never landed at all, until one did. Right on the sidewalk. And a big Sugar foot stomped on it and it was no more. Rest in piece beautiful exotic creature from Costa Rica. We sent our love.

We got to see our KriKrit (as Danny calls her), and Faith, Laden, Lissie and new baby Nathan. He is a little sweetheart. So super tiny! Grandma looked so cute with her four little ducklings following her around at the zoo. It was a fun time!

After the zoo, we found Trader Joe's and I snuck in while the boys were in the car with grandma. I bought two bouquets of pink peonies, ketchup, mayo, taco shells, pickles and a jar of the cookie butter everyone raves about. I was in heaven! I haven't been able to find any of these items in Pocatello in organic form! I was in heaven. It was so reasonably priced, too. I can't wait to go back.

That night, Kenz came over and we watched You've Got Mail, which happened to be on tv. I hadn't seen that movie for so long. It's so cute and reminded me of middle school and that one time I tried cutting my hair like Meg Ryan's. What a disaster, but truly, she's so cute in that movie. I love that movie. And I love my Kenzie.

The next day we went to pick up a few things to decorate the house for Uncle Dude. We went to the dollar store and then to Walmart, where a guy whistled at me as he drove by and told me I was gorgeous. Of course the boys were in my mom's cart, ahead of me. I laughed quite hard for a long time. I have two kids and I just turned 29. Bless you, sweet high-schooler boy.

We met up with Jennica and had lunch while the kids kind of played together. My boys aren't around little girls too much. It took some warming up. Her girls are sweethearts. We laughed how we each have two and two. It was so good to see her after so long.

That afternoon uncle dude finally came home! He ended up having to fly into Idaho Falls instead of Boise, so dad had to drive there to pick him up. He looked so official in his uniform. The boys were so excited to see him! We made a little sign and hung flags up and star shaped balloons and had a little get-together for him that night. We are so proud of him for making it through.

Danny got to go to the store with papa Saturday morning to pick up a new toy lawn mower. His obsession continues and was so ecstatic papa had plans to mow the lawn, that papa took him to the store to buy him one to keep at grandma's house. It was so cute seeing him follow papa around.

The boys loved playing on the four wheeler, playing games with grandma ('Sorry!'and Checkers), reading, playing Wii and watching Baby Einstein (Danny) upstairs in the great room. I enjoyed down time and relaxed a lot. Danny boy got to sleep with me in the guest bedroom and I spent lots of time snuggling and loving on him while he was sleeping. He thought it was great fun to sleep in a big bed with momma.

These boys get funner for me by the minute. Danny still keeps me on my toes, but they fill me with such joy. What a blessing.

We had such a good little trip. The boys were tuckered out and were asleep in no time on the drive home. Morgan also asked me as we were driving if Papa Scott had ever been a prophet before. Hahahaha! I got a kick out of that one. I'm not sure if it's because he's so 'spiritual' or if he's just old! When we were watching conference back in April, when Elder Uchtdorf came on, Danny kept saying over and over, 'That's Papa Scott!'. It must be an omen for good things to come.

I love my parents.
