It seems I hardly wrote in February, and now it’s March,
which is cause to celebrate! Hopefully, I'll write a little more. That's the goal anyway. We’ve had such an unseasonably warm winter, I was in full spring
cleaning mode in the middle of the month. We crossed a handful of projects off
the list. We painted some of the baseboards (still have lots to go!), cleaned
the garage a bit, washed some exterior windows, hauled tons off to DI,
decorated the playroom, had glass cut for our dining table, cleaned the storage
room and my big closet in the basement. When we flooded in August, the toys
were shifted to my storage closet, so the boys were constantly getting into
things they shouldn’t. For months I tolerated this! It was driving me crazy.
Anyway, we finally had our carpet stretched and put back and cleaned, and we
finally moved the toys back into the playroom. It was so much fun bringing
together a few pieces I had been saving for a long, long time. I’m anxious to
take some photos, but I’m still waiting on a couple of things in the mail
before it’s all completed.
Grandma came visiting for a few days last week, as well. We
kept it a surprise for the boys and when she knocked on the door and looked
through the window, they were so excited. Of course, naturally, the first thing
Danny says to her is how he went poopy in the potty earlier. It was a big day!
While she was here, we went to Great Harvest, Joanns, made
oatmeal cookies, read lots of books and watched the Downton finale when the
boys were in bed. She took Morg to the library and to the dollar store. They
brought home star wars books, coloring books and two pirate costumes. They also
continued reading the first Boxcar Children book. Those were always my favorite
growing up. It was so sweet to see her reading to him in bed, just like she
used to read to me. Morg cried and cried when she left and after she was gone,
Danny kept telling me over and over: I miss grandma, mommy! I kept saying, “I
know, bud!”, but that just wasn’t fixing his little hurt heart. It’s never long
enough!
PS - This little bum in big boy panties! I could die.
