My dears, I’m so in love with June this year. Every time I walk
outside, I feel so thankful the air is warm and the sun is shining. Summertime
makes me terribly happy.
Last weekend, we went to Idaho Falls for a wedding.
The boys loved playing on the temple grounds and it was nice to be in the
temple next to my sweetheart. I could see us living in Idaho Falls, if we ever
decide to ditch Pocatello. It’s so nice there.
We went on an evening drive one night last week. The summer we
were dating, we drove that way every night after Jared got off work. We’d roll
the windows down, look for deer and not drive back to town until it was dark. I
miss those days. We finally saw Gatsby and it’s nothing to write home about. I
was disappointed. Otherwise, just more of the same. The boys have been loving
wearing summer clothes and sandals. I water my flowers in the evening after the
kids have gone to bed and Morg and I go to yard sales on the weekends.
Danny chimes right in now when we sing I Am a Child of God
before bedtime, which surprised us all this week. He’s been drawing on the
cupboards with pens and pencils and driving his mother crazy while
simultaneously melting her heart. (Still not sure how this happens.)
Morgan has been earning $1.00 every time he picks up the
pinecones that fall on the drive. He’s saving up for a light saber. Earlier
this week, when I was laying by him at naptime he asked me if Smeagol has a
sword or a light saber. When I told him no, he asked if he just bites people.
Then he thought about it for a moment and said, “Darth Vadar could kill Smeagol
if he wanted to.” Unlikely, but still, can
you believe how the child is mine?! And I must add, he’s never even actually seen
Lord of the Rings and only a bit of Star Wars. He asks me all the time about
the stories, though. I’m excited to read to him when he’s a little older. And
when he’s a little older than that, I can’t wait for him to see the movies we
so much love around this house.
This weekend will be the first Fathers and Sons campout for
my boys and I’m not sure who is more excited – daddy or Morg. Papa will be
joining them, as well, and is quite excited, too. I’m looking forward to
packing them treats and sending them off for an adventure. I love having boys.
I turned twenty-eight this week and all I wanted was a nap.
Mr. Keller brought home beautiful sunflowers. He told me he knew tulips were my favorite, but he saw these and thought they were pretty and unconventional. Like
me, he said. Melted my heart. We had chocolate cake and opened my new camera. I
am spoiled. And loved. What a blessed life I have.
and....goodbye to my beloved Canon. She belongs to this cute girl now!
