So, we've had bad colds going on three weeks now. THREE WEEKS! Both boys got the stomach flu the night we came home from Thanksgiving at the Kellers. Last week Danny got an ear infection and yesterday, I took Morg to quick care for a bad cough. Will this end? I'm not hopeful.
Last Monday we ventured out to get a Christmas tree. We picked the perfect one, brought it home, set it in the stand and brought it inside. The moment we sat it down, tons of spiders dropped from the branches. I freaked out, shed a few tears (seriously) and begged Jared to take it back outside. I returned it the next day and later in the week, found another one. This weekend, we decorated. Morg enjoyed going through boxes, pulling out his Christmas books and snuggling in the homemade Christmas quilts from his grandmas. We love Christmas at our house and I know Mr. Keller always says it's me that loves it most, but really he's just embarrassed to admit he turns into a giddy child this time of year. I'm not kidding. I walked into the bathroom to find him listening to Christmas music on his phone while he was taking a nice long shower. I had to hurry and leave before he heard me laughing.
Saturday, Morg got to do a little Christmas shopping with daddy. They made it to one store, Costco, which I'm guessing was Morgan's first choice (it's his favorite store). We were supposed to go to our ward christmas party that night, but both boys seemed to be feeling worse as the night went on, so we decided to skip it. We had Chinese food instead. We skipped church the next morning, took Morg to the doctor, went to the pharmacy and came home for naps. I slept for three hours. It was divine.
I'm nearly all done with Christmas shopping and am looking forward to wrapping presents this week after the kids go to bed. Although, I'm so bummed I accidentally left Mr. Keller's Christmas list out on the counter. He "supposedly" only saw one thing before he realized what the list was and looked away. A few minutes later, the mail man rang the door bell while I was in the garage. Jared answered the door. The mail man handed him his gift. And just like that, it was all truly foiled. I'm so mad. I may have even actually cried over it (and no, I'm not pregnant). Gift-giving is sacred around these parts. We take it very seriously.....
Things I'm enjoying:
-reading christmas stories to morg...last night we discovered our Danny dude looks just like the Abominable Snowman.
-the boys' matching christmas pajamas
-homemade chex mix
-evening fires in our fireplace
-peanut m&ms
-my vintage farm workshop
