One of the best things about hanging out where we did was the people. We both commented several times how easy-going and accepting everyone was. Being from farther away, it was very clear to me how the ocean has such a calming presence -- it's so evident when you sit back and watch everyone else interact. It's sort of underlying, but it's there. Quietly.
We people-watched like crazy, but no one seemed to notice or mind. We took pictures for people, people took pictures for us. We followed little kids around, missing our own. Jared took a few pictures for two love-bird *boyfriends* who were flirtatiously trying to throw each other over the pier. (He loved that, let me tell you.) We met some funny fishermen and touched a few baby octopus they had caught (cute!). And all the while I was thinking, seriously, how great would it be to live so close as to be able to just load up your kids for a saturday at the beach, or to have date night walking down the coast, or a beach bonfire at dusk? I watched for people I assumed lived there and I envied them. They were all so relaxed, with sweet cruiser bikes, pretty skin and cool tattoos. Oh, the tattoos! We both decided if we stayed around much longer, we would probably both end up with one or two ourselves. Three birds on my left shoulder, please.
Anyway, here's a few more from our trip:
Mr. Keller looking rather handsome (and sunburned)
{cute kids playing with seaweed}
{cute bike rental shop - they had these all over!}
{on the pier....my favorite, favorite place}
