November Sixteenth: music that moves

When we drive in the car, or dance in the front room, the music must be loud.  Loud enough that when daddy comes in the room, he can't wait to turn it down.

I've always been like that. And of course I married someone a little like Scott. (If it's not my dad, it's my husband!)

Even still, I do what I want.

It has something to do with good taste. Good music must be heard. And we allow only classics. We forbid all the rest. And we sing our hearts out when needed.

Before Danny was born, I spent the evenings singing Golden Slumbers to Morgan until he fell asleep. He called it his 'favorite', and I drank up every moment. My favorites are fastly becoming his.

He is, after all, my son. And him and I, we soar on the following:

Sinatra, older Metallica, older Weezer, The Joshua Tree, The Moon is Down, Ben Folds, Phantom of the Opera, Copeland, Postal Service and anything coming from the lips of my boyfriend Christopher Carrabba.

And for the record, here's the list of songs I had put on a cd and packed away in my hospital bag to listen to during Danny's labor:

so impossible - dashboard confessional
look after you - the fray
still fighting it - ben folds
remember to breathe - dashboard confessional
when finally set free - copeland, (my theme song when things got very ouchie!)
the luckiest - ben folds
anchor - mindy gledhill
turpentine chaser - dashboard confessional
you are my sunshine - copeland
boston - augustana
a plain morning - dashboard confessional
these blooms are in full - one amazing kid
sun (acoustic) - mae
new year's project (acoustic) further seems forever

PS - I just found this girl Kina Grannis yesterday. I spent all last night listening to her pretty little voice. Plus, she is sleek and gorgeous! I love the jelly bean art in this video.

and this SWEET cover of Foster The People! I love this! And her bearded gentleman friend has the voice of an angel.
