November Eleventh: Boy
Do you know how many things with wheels we have around this joint? The count is probably well over two hundred. Two hundred cars, tractors, semi trucks and trailers. I'm constantly finding them shoved in cupboards, in the bathtub, at the bottom of my bed and, of course, always beneath my feet in the kitchen, bathroom and where I step to get out of bed in the morning.
This is a house of boys. There aren't dolls or barbies, and the only things pink around are a sweatshirt hanging in my closet and a pair of clip earrings in the drawer. Some days, it drives me crazy. But you should see how affectionate they all three get when they are sleepy, or the looks of their faces when I pull chocolate chip cookies from the oven. I'm the one lucky girl; the only one in their sight (for now). Today, I'm so thankful for that. It's endearing and sweet. It makes me feel at home.
