Home becomes home once more.

{the breathtaking sea scape. lincoln beach, oregon. july 2oo7.}

Last night, I slept sound. I slept perfectly. I was recovering from the last forty-eight hours where I played the abandoned hunter’s widow.

Oh, the joys of the season.

Thankfully, we survived. Mostly, we (Morgan and I) cleaned and shopped. Ate fast food (Morgan ate Gerber yumminess and frozen peas). I hate cooking for one, you know.

We welcomed in September, though the afternoons are still so very warm. We wear sweaters in the morning, and shed layers by noon.

Summer lingers still.

I greeted a fully-bearded husband in the drive. He arrived emptied handed, then he had us in his arms.

Empty no more.

We spent the evening eating his leftover candy (he always stocks up for this time of year). Crock-pot chicken. Root beer. He paid the bills. I worked on Vintage Farm business in the garage, then we snuggled on the couch, ate popcorn and watched The Office. Just like the old days. It was delightful.

The Office is like a solid part of our marriage. Does everyone know that we laugh at the exact same parts all the time? I mean seriously. You all should know that.

You all should know that for the last four years – last four birthdays in a row, Jared has received the ever-anticipated-newly-released season on DVD – a new one each fall. And we watch them. Over and over. They never get old.

I answer the phone “Dunder-mifflin – This is Pam”. And we sing “Ryan Started The Fire” (we know all the words). Then we try to see who is the most clever/dirty (usually dirty) following up with “that’s what she said”.

That’s what she said!

Lucky for me, folks, I married my best friend. I love him with my whole heart. I miss him when he’s gone. And when he returns, home becomes home once more.

So here’s to four years of sharing love. Here’s to laughing at all the same things – because seriously, it’s funny. Here’s to Jim and Pam. And here’s to September – oh lovely September.

The day is good. And all is well.
Lovely Tuesday to you, my dear.
Lovely Tuesday to you.
