What I just can hardly stand is the smell of soy formula. It makes me gag every time I smell it, and it’s so darn potent.
Morgan’s had a cold these last few days and I got the brilliant idea to switch his formula, for the time being, to soy instead of milk-based to avoid excess mucus. Good news is he’s eating it like it was the same old thing he’s eaten since forever. Better news: it’s helping with his cold. But, oh, the putrid downside: it is all-out disgusting. Gross.
So, the last few nights have been spent with him sleeping in between us, just like the good ol’ days, propped up on a pillow to help with the stuffiness. Only now, he’s much bigger. And now, we have gotten used to having our bed back to just the two of us. And now, all three of us get really squinched over a nighttime’s worth of coughing and snoring and tossing and turning.

So early this morning, when he woke up a little too early, he started cooing, and talking, and chewing on his sock. And I turned over, with my eyes still sleeping, to nuzzle his soft little face and just then, oh boy, he started sucking on the end of my nose!

Then I got the giggles. And we woke up The Daddy. And he was all grumpy for some reason. For the whole morning. Until he was about ready to leave for work and then he looked at both of us, sitting on the floor playing with Morg’s favorite blue doggie.
And then he was all smiles. Must have been the sight of how gorgeous his wife just naturally wakes up like (NOT), or his endearing, perfect, blue-eyed son (TRUE), or hi
s always-good-never-naughty dog sitting on her bed in the kitchen, just like a good dog should.
Whatever it was, we prayed together, just like every morning, and kissed and said goodbye, for the day. And I thought, to myself: this life of mine is sweet.
