Four Sweet Months

3/3/09
Today is Morgan’s 4 month-old birthday! Last night we were on our weekly grocery shopping/Family Home Evening excursion to Wal-Mart and I got a little emotional as we bought our first box of rice cereal! When Jared asked why I was crying, I couldn’t really say. I’m just a silly mommy. And as much as I claim I cannot wait until he becomes more independent…..until he’s out of diapers……until I can reclaim my night’s rest…..I realized last night that I don’t really wish for any of that. I want him to fit in my arms forever. But, he’s well on his way to growing up (tears, tears!).

4 months old…and….

--He checked in at his doctor’s appointment yesterday at 16 lbs, 26 inches long...my big boy!
--Even more impressive: he’s a few small ounces from doubling his birth weight (YIKES)
--He’s sleeping 7-8-9 hours at night…still not long enough for me!
--He cat-naps like crazy, taking 20-30 minute naps 3-4 times a day
--He loves his toes and he loves taking his socks off
--He chews on his fingers. He chews on everything.
--He has a favorite blankey he cannot fall to sleep without.
--He jabbers a lot, mostly after he wakes up
--He loves being naked
--He loves looking at himself in the mirror. We can guarantee smiles and laughter from him whenever we put him in front of one.
--He is in love with our Bella doggie and she is constantly trying to nibble on his toes and hands, if he put him near her. They are destined to be quite the pair someday soon.
--He’s nearly outgrown his six-month clothing, and me being the clothes freak that I am, I feel saddened that he may not get to wear some of the cute spring/summer outfits I bought for him
--He eats 5-7 ounces milk, every 2-3 hours
---------I’ve had to start supplementing with formula
---------I’m still pumping….the doctor praised me for enduring this long, and said it’s okay to quit. We'll see.
--He, just last week, started sleeping in his co-sleeper. Up until that time, he slept in between us in our bed.

Other Activities
_______________

We’re well into season 3 of the TV show 24. I read a little blurb on the internet about how Jack Bauer can make Chuck Norris cry. How true is that?! You’re my hero Jack!

Saturday, Jared raked the back yard and it looks so nice! Despite everything still being brown, the grass is beginning to green a little. I think since then, I’ve been breathing a little deeper. I can’t wait to have my hands in the dirt. I cannot wait.

The Dunn basement apartment is rented. YES, finally! For this, we are grateful. As much as we have great memories in that home, if I didn’t have to drive over there for a very long time, I would be happy. Maybe we’ll sell it in the spring.

On Sunday afternoon, we took our first walk down the street, to the park. Bella enjoyed it the most. Morgan’s face got red (Jared says he has my skin). But he got to wear his camo snuggle-thing for the first time (thank you to the ladies, and Jay Ben at Ameri-title)!

All in all, today is a big day for us!!! Four months old!!! Four sweet months.

How we are blessed.
